Torre Dorada, Cusco, Peru

We stayed at the Torre Dorada in Cusco for five nights in total; three nights before we walked the Inca trail and two nights after. We were a family of four with two children aged 10 and 8. The service was some of the best we have seen, with every member of staff going out of their way to help with anything we asked.

We really liked the small lobby outside the room, where we could have tea, and sit so that the children could do some schoolwork. I also loved the fact we could get a bag of laundry done for a reasonable price without paying the piece rates that most hotels charged – this was a lifesaver after walking the Inca trail!

The hotel was really helpful in storing our stuff, and letting us have an early breakfast (5.30!) before going on the trail.

For us, the distance from the main square (which is too far to walk) was annoying, but the hotel does everything to make this easy for you, with drivers available whenever you want them. If I was coming again to Cusco, the service was so good, that I think it outweighs the distance.
