We stayed at Tussock Lodge for one night on the Otago Rail Trail. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves, despite only paying for 2 out of the 4 bedrooms. We found the lounge a great place to relax and enjoy the views over the rail trail, and enjoyed playing scrabble while we waited for our bags to be delivered. It wasn’t signposted from the Rail Trail (despite being only a few hundred metres away) but we found it easily enough by asking at the Waipiata Hotel.
There was a washing machine and clothes line, which was very useful as we were starting to need it after three days on the trail!
