Larapinta 2: Simpson’s Gap Loop
Six am start and everything was soaked in dew. We quickly packed up camp after breakfast and drove back to Simpsons Gap.
We have to fiddle a bit with the track because we cannot walk this section through. The landowners haas restricted access. So we follow the Wooodland Trail which lived up to its name. Dew soaked grasses backed by ochre cliffs left out legs wet. Lunch was at Bond Gap beside water and cliffs.
Today was largely flat and quite fast, especially at the end. After a drive to Standlley Chasm we set up camp and even had a quick shower, which felt good, no great. Dinner round a campfire.
Yesterday S from WA hurt her leg and D fell and hit her head. Today S went into Alice Springs to see a doctor about her leg and the conclusion is she cannot continue. Just like that we have gone from 8 to 7.
18km today.
