Into the wine country
Over the past few days, we’ve been seeing more and more grape vines as we walk. Today we crossed the border into La Rioja, Spain’s most famous wine region, so we are well and truly there now.
We started a little earlier today as it promised to be a hot day, and we were rewarded with a magnificent sunrise over the village we had just left. The first half of the day was a succession of magnificent landscapes, slightly undulating, but not too hilly, although our early lunch of tortilla was still pretty welcome.

The second half wasn’t quite as picturesque as we were walking into LogroƱo, capital of La Rioja, and while it is a beautiful city, the outskirts are pretty industrial.
Once we made it in to town, we were met in the main square by Evan, and soon, hopefully, Bob, Ana and Julie and Eva for pintxos and, tomorrow, an even better gastronomic adventure.
