Completionist along the river

Today’s walk was a part of the Camino I hadn’t walked before. Last time, Evan and I slightly stuffed up our bookings and also realised that the way we were going to walk into Burgos was notoriously at the side of a highway. So we caught a taxi.

This time, when helping Tiny organise her bookings, we had remembered the multiple routes problem, and found a hotel on the river route (rather than the highway route) for last night. It was a bit of a strange place, more old country cottage than most of them, but it worked, and this morning we started our walk into Burgos.

It was a lovely walk through the gradually lifting fog. One of the many bonuses of walking with Tiny is that she actually knows the names of plants and flowers. So I loved the many purple crocuses that were literally growing out of our rocky path as we walked up our little hill out of Atapuerca. Surprisingly, we had no views of Burgos, despite being up an hill looking down on it at one point, until we were almost there. The last eight kilometres or so were beside the river, and being Saturday, there were lots of locals out enjoying the countryside.
