Stockholm in the snow

Our first train out of Copenhagen was delayed by a stressful 25 minutes, leaving us a very tight connection in Malmo. But once we were safely ensconced on the train to Stockholm it was a lovely ride through increasing amounts of snow. Add snow to some fur trees and cute churches and you get the very definition of picturesque.

Our arrival in Stockholm meant snowball fights as a priority. Then we got a ferry over the Harbour. Most of the team then went to the ABBA Museum while Minerva and I visited the Shipwreck Museum (to each…).

Skye and Lea and Jennifer, who is writing this bit, leaned into the full ABBA experience. We met up with the Spanish contingent at the ABBA museum, who were fortunately almost as excited by ABBA as we were. We sang a particularly fine (in my opinion) karaoke version of Waterloo, and then Skye and Eva took the chance to be the fifth and sixth ABBA members in stage with the original (holographic) ABBA members in a particularly fine version of Dancing Queen.

That was probably the highlight, although seeing the original Eurovision medal, and discovering that ABBA’s main competition for the Eurovision victory had been Olivia Newton-John, were also fun.

The trip to and from the museums was via a ferry. Snow balls may have been thrown by many members of the family.

After dinner Skye and Lea went ice skating and then we built a fine looking snowman to complete the snow experience.
