Druk Path 5

We awoke to a Sunny day which was nice. The tents and altitude are getting to all of us a bit and we’re looking forward to tonight in a hotel with a shower and a bed. But in the meantime the views are spectacular.

Today was a bit strange. We ascended 140m in the day and descended almost 1500m. So there was a lot of downhill to deal with.

We stopped at the highest point to string some more prayer flags.

For the first time we saw other people as there were a lot of local climbing up to visit the temples and lakes. The hillside descending into Thimphu is dotted with temples and monasteries. The most obvious thing to us, though, was that we could catch our breath.

When we finally reached the bottom we had another excellent lunch, which included a congratulatory cake, before heading to our hotel for that, much needed, shower.
