A bridge to food

Jennifer and I drove to Orte to drop Jennifer V off at the train station, and so our little party diminishes. On the way I had a flash of inspiration and quickly changed some of the next two weeks of my itinerary when we returned.

Civita di Bagnoregio

Then the remaining four of us drove the 20 minutes to Civita di Bagnoregio. This tiny hillside town is somewhat famous for being accessible only via a footbridge. Thanks to that its 50 residents host 500,000 visitors annually. We were primarily there for lunch – and we had a wonderful meal in a little restaurant using local ingredients. The day turned stiflingly hot while we ate, so walking back on that bridge and then driving in a car that had been baking in the almost 40-degree heat was, well, exhausting. (That’s my story – it had nothing to do with the glass of limoncello, nothing I tell you.)

The day finished with watching the Socceroos play in the World Cup.
