The un-tower day
The last couple of weeks in Italy have involved many towers, so it was sort of fitting that our last day was different.
We went to Orvieto which is a charming hilltop town with history stretching back to the Etruscans. We loved the beautiful church and appreciated seeing a very highly-produced wedding.

We also had another excellent lunch.
But the highlight was visiting the tunnels underneath the town. A combination of Etruscan wells of extraordinary depth and medieval rooms covering everything from olive milling to pigeon farming.

The day was again stiflingly hot so we rounded things off with another swim at Lake Bolzano.
