Cangas de Onís

I am in Cangas de Onis in the Picos de Europa. Imagine the North coast off Spain – the Picos are the mountain range that parallels the coast. When we walked the Camino del Norte it was the Picos that shadowed most of our walk on our left. Now the plan is to hike in the Picos.

I’ve joined a group of fellow hikers: from Ireland, Finland, New Zealand, USA, and the UK. First impressions are positive.

There was time for a quick explore of the town, the highlight of which is a wonderful Roman bridge. There were kids, who I don’t think represent a positive step on the evolutionary ladder, jumping off the bridge in spite of the evident rocks.
