Churching
The problem with churches is that they’re fundamentally designed to be awe-inspiring, beautiful, spiritual, and intriguing. So much as I resent handing money to the church, I can’t seem to stop myself.
Look at the San Nicolas church. It’s just utterly beautiful thanks to being covered in frescos. Even though I’m a bit of fan of gothic austere lines, you have to appreciate it when a building has gone all-in on decent frescos.

Strangely the church has a light show. This is something that would make sense in the austere gothic churches, but is weird when it covers up the thing you’ve come to see. But, the Catholic Church has had millennia to work out how to get people to pay money for the ephemeral; so I shouldn’t be surprised.
It’s not all chuches and cool Spanish streets though. I also did my washing – needed after hiking – and some practical stuff like changing tickets.
Later in the day I went for a walk. It was supposed to be an hour’s leisurely stroll but turned into two hours serious walking when my strolling left me way further from home than expected – I thought I was walking in a circle and it turned out to be a straight line.
