Rooting

My activity for today, outside of a brain-hurting visit to the Spanish subjunctive, was a trip to the pre-history museum. It’s not a great museum, but looking at stone axe made a couple of hundred thousand years ago or a pot painted before the Romans came to the Iberian peninsula just fills me with awe.

The strange thing I’ve found with long trips is that the last few days I inevitably start to focus on the ‘real’ world back home. It’s like horror-movie roots wriggling out of the ground and pulling you back down to Earth. Perhaps this time even more so as we settle on the new apartment just after I get home.

So while I am still enjoying my last few days in Spain, I find myself increasingly focused on Sydney and so was quite happy to have a quiet evening at home this evening with a home cooked meal.
