Dinan

The house is two minutes walk to the centre of historic Dinan, with its creperies, and lovely half timbered houses, and five minutes walk (down a steep hill) to the riverside port, and countryside walks along the river. There are a couple of supermarkets 5-10 minutes walk away in Dinan, which means there is no need for a car unless you want to explore the countryside.

Our most enjoyable day was when we hired a riverboat at the port, and spent half a day going up and down the river, in the middle of the lovely Breton countryside.

The house itself is very well put together, you can tell that the owners love it and spend a lot of time there. The kitchen was very well equipped (although quite small) and the book collection was excellent – all four of us found a good book to read.

All our dealings with Bruce was by post and email – he sent us a key and directions to the house, which worked out very well, and it was lovely to have a bottle of wine and some bread and jam waiting for us after a long day of train travel.
