We stayed here for seven nights in December 2010. We had their largest room, which was almost a suite with a semi separate bedroom, and beds for the children in the main living area.
It was wonderful being in the middle of a real Hutong, with bicycle greengrocers going past every morning. In a Beijing winter, the heating was only just good enough, we had to ask for extra heaters.
The pictures on the website don’t do the character of the rooms justice, they are lovely old chinese, with modern bathrooms attached.
The breakfast is nothing special, but there is certainly enough to fill you up for the day. The staff were incredibly helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay special, particularly for our two boys.
It is walking distance to Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City, and a quick walk to the nearest metro station.
And in the middle of busy Beijing, it is completely quiet at night.
It isn’t as nice as a five Star hotel would have been, but it certainly felt like a more authentic Bejing experience.
