Maisse

We stayed here for a week in July, four adults and two children. The house and especially the garden were huge, which made us feel as if we were in the country, even though Maisse is more of a small village/town/dormitory of Paris. The house was very well equipped, with everything we needed, a great kitchen for cooking in, fast internet, boules in the garden and a bike for a quick ride. We stayed for a week without a car, which was fine, as all we wanted to do was relax and spend time together, and the supermarket, patisserie, and excellent charcuterie are an easy walk. We took the weekly bus to the nearby market town of Milly-la-Foret, for the market, but there is no other public transport (except the RER train from Paris, which takes a while to get to Paris). Even the taxis get booked up, so you need a car if you want to do any local sightseeing. Raphael and his wife were very welcoming and helpful, meeting us at the train (even though it is less than a kilometre to walk) telling us which boulangerie to go to, and settling us in with a lovely seasonal apple tarte. We had a lovely time here, and would recommend it for a relaxing stay.
