Last day in the USA
Our last day in the USA was a bit of a fiddle between checking out of the hotel and a late night flight. It’s always hard to know how best to deal with a day like that.
We went back to Charleston and walked around the foreshore to the USS Constitution. The Constitution is the oldest floating commissioned ship and an icon for Americans. It’s interesting and pretty in the way of old ships. For its time it was the pinnacle of engineering.
By chance, the last thing we saw in the Museum was a plaque explaining that a bit of copper from the Constitution had been taken into space on the Shuttle Atlantis – which we saw in Florida. That seemed like a nice bookend on our time in the States chasing all things Space.
Now on to Europe.
