Scottish days

Tuesday: Went to visit my cousin who now owns the flat I lived in for the first few years of my time in Scotland. It’s so small! Lovely dinner on Loch Eck.

Wednesday: Buried our parents ashes in the Kilmun graveyard. Sad, but good to finally have done. Fabulous lunch cooked by Martin and eaten in the paneled dining room of Old Kilmun House.

Thursday: Went on tour of Cruachan Dam with Minerva. Then we tried to walk directly up an almost vertical slope to visit the top of the dam and were defeated. Went to pick Jennifer and Skye up in Inverary, then all four of us took a gentler approach and reached the Dam ( Skye was happy because the dam features in the Andor Star Wars show.)

Friday: We started unraveling, with Martin, Kevin and Skye heading South. Jennifer and I walked through the amazing moss-filled ravines which make up Puck’s Glen. Then in the afternoon we went on the Waverly – the last working sea-going paddle steamer – to Rothsay. The wind and rain meant the engineering was the only real thing to see on the day.

Saturday: Drove the long way round the Lochs and then visited the Falkirk Wheel for some more engineering geeking. Then dropped Minerva off at a railway station while Jennifer and I headed on to Edinburgh Airport for a flight to Geneva.
