Getting high in Switzerland

We had a simple aim for today – go to Switzerland and get up very high.

Fulfilling that plan involved driving two hours North on ear-popping winding roads past St Moritz and up to Diavolezza. It was a very pretty drive with lots of lovely views of lakes and peaks. A coffee break beside a picture-perfect waterfall neatly punctuated the trip.

The enormous cable-car at Diavolezza carried us up to just under 3000m where there was a vista of mountains, snow, and glacier. And lunch in the gasthaus.

We erred slightly in deciding to drive back by the more Southern route which was both longer and less pretty, but it was still interesting. It was a long drive though (so this is a short post).
