Strolling the Camino

The main game with Jennifer being here is for her to walk two weeks of the Camino with her aunt Tiny. Tiny set out from St Jean a couple of days ago, and today we set out to meet her.

It was an absolutely lovely day on the trail. Although it was weird walking in the wrong direction on the Camino, it was nice strolling without a particular need to be anywhere. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we remembered of the trail from what is now pretty much exactly three years ago.

We met up with Tiny some 12km out, in a bar with an excellent tortilla. Tiny has already befriended, well, pretty much everyone on the trail after only three days. So she kept on bumping into people she knew. We walked slowly as Tiny is being very sensible and not over-doing things – she says she is being a Camino snail.

The walk back in was a bit hot but we broke it up with some stops and were all very happy to toast our arrival with a cold beer. Of course arrival on Pamplona also meant climbing the six flights of stairs to my apartment and there does not appear to be much immediate enthusiasm for going back out.
