Going gothic

Jennifer had meeting through the night last night and will again tonight – so a quiet day today. The focus was the gothic cathedral and Archbishopric Palace.

Narbonne has been rich since Roman times as it sat on the crossroads of land and sea between Rome and Spain. During the 1100s that richness was made obvious through the creation of a large Cathedral and debatably larger palace for the archbishops. Both are impressive buildings but the cathedral is quite special – the vaulted ceiling and huge symmetrical stained glass windows are beautiful.

After diving deep into gothic architecture, we had a lovely lunch in a bistro by the canal before Jennifer took a siesta to prepare for her sleepless night.

Post-siesta we went for a little walk along the canal, before dinner at home and early to bed for Jennifer’s midnight meeting start.
