Let’s lock that in

Peter and Jane arrived at 2am after flight from hell. We didn’t talk much, just got them settled and all slept. So the morning involved a slow start. We then went for more shopping including a visit to a fine boulangerie.

We finally set off at 1pm and immediately navigated 4 locks. By the end of the day we’d navigated 15 locks, many in the company of a Brazilian couple.

The locks come in two types. There’s ones with a lock keeper who controls the process. Then there are ones that involve a crew member pressing buttons on the quay to make the gates open close. We became very proficient.

We’ve moored on an isolated bank about 10km from Castelnaudry. We’re snacking on the upper deck on French cheese and bread while sipping French wine. Like this boating thing.
