Relaxing walk
When we decided to start this journey in Singapore, it was mainly so we could relax there, if we were too exhausted by packing up our lives in Australia. Singapore has lots to see, but none of it is so iconic that we would compel ourselves to see every bit in the week we are here.
So this morning, we decided to wander around Little India, as a fairly low key way of seeing the place. First stop, an iconic old chinese house near the MRT station.
Then once we’d wandered around there a bit more, finding a mosque, and a drink of water, we threw caution to the winds, and kept walking.
We wandered by the side of the Grand Prix track (which had some lovely shady paths by the water on the other side, past the crazy people finishing the Singapore marathon, and ended up at the top of Singapore’s latest attraction, the Marina Bay Sands, which is a hotel, convention centre and casino complex.
It has an infinity edge pool 56 stories up in the sky.
We weren’t allowed in the pool ourselves, so after goggling at the swimmers, we had a well deserved icecream, we collapsed in a heap back in the airconditioned comfort of our apartment. I couldn’t quite work out the distances from google (harder when you’re not going in a straight line) but it was nearly 4 hours of walking.
Sounds like a fabulous time. Singapore makes Sydney look dowdy and backward!
Thoroughly recommend a visit to “Mustafa’s” in little india. A cross between DJ’s and a bazaar. A good game is to think of something outlandish and then find it in the store. We couldn’t find a camel, but we’re pretty sure it was for lack of trying.
Hi Evan,
I never got to say goodbye to all of you.
We all wish you and your family a safe and exciting trip.
I look forward to following your travels.
