A Viking we will go

A combination of a DNA test and an unusual hand affliction say that my family has Vikings in their past. Jennifer’s family tree definitely includes several Danish Kings. So Vikings.

Viking-central is the Ship Museum in Roskilde, about an hour West of Copenhagen. After a very slow start to the day, we left Skye dealing with a cold and headed out in a rainy, chilly day.

The town of Roskilde was pretty but also post-NYE deserted. The museum which features three 1000-year-old longboats was really interesting. As always, seeing a real thing that was used by people in the past is inspiring.

We had a lunch of Viking-inspired, but modern, food – it leant heavily into barley and cabbage. The meal was very tasty although I would skip the mead next time.

And that was basically our last day in Denmark. Tomorrow we head North to Stockholm.
