Beautiful places

The Casa Pilate is a stunningly beautiful house in Seville. Its walls are covered in tiles, its doorways provide views to shades gardens and courtyards, its ceilings are intricate and colourful. Really it is a work of art.

Today is slightly less hot than yesterday. But all that means is that at 5pm it’s 33 degrees and climbing instead of 37 degrees yesterday. We’ve been surprised how much of a difference that makes.

That intense heat makes real sense of the Spanish approach to eating late. Most bars open at 8 because earlier than that is just too hot.

So, somewhat late, this evening we wandered over to Triana, so Jennifer could see what all the fuss was about and try some snails and fried quail. I love this bar of shouty men in t-shirts tossing plates at you and charging a euro for a beer. As for the snails? A little goes a long way.
