After a week with 13 strangers – who were largely very nice – I am breathing a sigh of relief to be alone.

After being dropped off in Bilbao I wiled away a couple of hours with a very pleasant ensalada de queso de cabra lunch in a small bar, then went to the train station. Somewhat frustratingly my first train had been replaced with a coach. Honestly though, the coach trip passed quickly enough.

Next it was a train from Miranda de Ebro to Madrid. That one took about an hour longer than scheduled. No one explained why but we passengers were blaming the extreme heat.

I’m theory in Madrid I am staying the night with Bob and Ana. They, however, are away on holiday. So I am home alone in their shuttered house – given me a real dose of alone-time.
