TMB 2: Switzerland

If you imagine a clock with Mont Blanc sitting in the center, yesterday we walked from 9 to 11. Today we crossed into Switzerland and walked from 11:30 to 1 and ended up in the little village of Champex.

It was a very different walk today, through classic Swiss forests and farmland. Much of the walk was done to the backing track of cow-bells. We gained a lot of height above the valley which sat far, far below.

We had several river crossings and a section where the path was the river. Lunch was on a ridge looking down over a deep valley. The walking is tough on the legs – basically you are walking up for half a day and then down for half a day without much respite. But it’s worth it for the stunning layered views over to the mountains.
