Larapinta 12: Davenport Creek and Redbank Creek 1

In theory this was a day of less than 15km.

I started the day watching the night sky and the full moon at 5:15am. The sky and landscape were beautiful. As the Sun came up the raptor nesting above my chair set out hunting in the dawn.

We walked out of camp and climbed up to Hilltop Lookout which offered us an amazing view of Mt Sonder. Probably our last view as from here on we walk around the Mount itself. lunch on the lookout was characterized by the waves if negativity coming off N and leaving everyone unhappy. Not much that can be done although the group is splintering around N which is all a bit depressing.

A stark downhill hike from there didn’t really please anyone. I ended up 45 minutes ahead of the pack and spent the time digging for water in a riverbed. I achieved filthy hands and no water.

We ended the day at Rocky Bar Gap just under the end ge of Mt Sonder.

And that was another 19km in reality.
